Pond Cleanup Services
The spring maintenance process involves:
-
a drain and refill
-
removal of any heavy debris and leaves that may have accumulated during fall and winter
-
thinning of overgrown aquatic plants
-
replacement of light bulbs & filter mats as needed
During the cleanout process we take very specific care of your fish and other pond inhabiyants by safely housing them in an oxyenated temporary storage tank. It’s a dirty job, but somebody has got to do it! It’s really not as hard as it sounds and for the “Down and Dirty”, do-it yourselfers that are a little nervous we offer a hands on spring startup seminar at our Aquatic Garden Center in April of every year.
If you would like to hire H2O Designs to perform your spring maintenance services you will need to contact us in mid to late February. Depending on weather we will begin performing spring maintenance around the first of March. Scheduling is done on a first come first serve basis. We have several customers that take advantage of our Spring Maintenance Services every year. Therefore, if you delay contacting us, your cleanout could easily be delayed to Mid April or later!!
A typical Spring Cleanout performed by our crew will take 1-2 hours and generally costs $150 - $300 plus the cost of any water treatments or replacement materials. Please contact us for detailed cleanout pricing. If we have performed cleanout services for your pond in the past we can quote you an exact cost in most cases.
Estimated Labor Effort NOTE: These rates are estimates based on past customer cleanouts and are meant to give you an idea of the labor costs your maintenance service will incur. Every cleanout is different and presents unique challenges. Therefore, it is likely that the labor charge for your pond will not be exactly reflected in the categories below.
Filter Mats (Skimmer/Biofalls)
Most ponds are equipped with a Skimmer or Biological Waterfall box or both. These mechanical filters contain filter pads that trap debris and help filter your pond year around. Many times these filter pads become clogged from excess pond debris. For this reason we suggest replacing these filte pads on a minimum of a Bi-Annual basis (Annually for Most Ponds). Even if the filter appears to be clean after being sprayed off it is likely that if the filter is more than a year old that it is not filtering your pond to it's full potential.
